Indian Summer

The Hudson Valley is a place that has seen tremendous change as it transitions from an industrial to post-industrial economy. My work is about the people and places that are somewhere in between. I grew up in Peekskill N.Y., just north of the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant, which is now set to close in 2021. Many people don’t know that this property was once the site of an amusement park. In my painting Indian Summer, I attempt to capture the debate about its closure, combining fear with hope, while breaking the boundaries between the past, present and future.
